Samsung YP-Z5 iPod Competition?

Samsung plans on launching a very nice looking mp3 player for the first half of 2006. This mp3 player's primary feature is an impressive 38 hour battery life. I think the Samsung YP-Z5 has a change with the iPod with that kind of a battery life. However, the iPod has such a brand recognition, and the iTunes platform, so Samsung has a very tough boat to crack to get a significant share of the mid-level mp3 player market.

Luckily for iPod lovers, the 38 hour battery life of the Samsung YP-Z5 will probably push Apple into developing an even more impressive battery in response to Samsung's efforts. It is kind of the beuty of competition, hopefully it helps get prices even lower or higher battery life, but hopefully it does not come at a cost of decreased support or quality. That assumes that Samsung does create an amazing product with backing... It also assumes that there is not backlash because the design looks so much like an iPod knockoff.
