PocketMac Phone Review

I recently purchased PocketMac Phone edition and have been pretty satisfied with it. I have an Audiovox 5600 that I am using with this software. The features are what iSync should be able to do but cannot. PocketMac Phone can sync over USB and Bluetooth. It supports PocketPC's ActiveSync protocol allowing you to sync your iCal, Address Book, iPhoto, iTunes, and sync files. My overall experience with PocketMac Phone was pretty good, but it was not without difficulty.
When I first installed PocketMac Phone, I could not get anything to work. The only way to connect to my phone was to use the USB cable. As you can imagine, since I had Bluetooth, this was hardly a good solution. Then on top of that, iCal did not sync properly. However, I found out that PocketMac does not ship the latest version, but you must run version update for Bluetooth support under Tiger. This fixed my issues with Tiger and I am now happily syncing my Audiovox 5600 with my Powerbook.
I can connect my Audiovox 5600 using the Bluetooth tools are part of the mac system. On my phone, you have to go into ActiveSync and connect over Bluetooth. Then all that is left to do is telling PocketMac Phone to connect via Bluetooth instead of USB. Then you have a connection. Then I found that if you set the setting to automatically sync, this is pretty effective.
If you have a mac and a pocketPC phone, I will recommend you purchase software from this San Diego based software firm. More information can be found at: pocketmac.net
