Apple AirPort Express Love

Today I am writing about a product that is not all that new. It is the Apple AirPort Express Base Station. This product has been my base station for over a year now and I am really growing to like it. It acts as my print server, and also a speaker server or something of that sort. If you have multiple computers or users and one set of good speakers you may want to consider purchasing the AirPort Express Base Station.

The AirPort Express Bass Station offers great services such as AirTunes. AirTunes allows you to stream music over attached speakers from anywhere on your network. I have done this from many places on my network, including remotely through a VPN. If that is not a fun feature, I do not know what is.

Then to top it off, it offers print sharing. Simply plug a usb printer in, and it works. This device is great and it has served many prints for me. Even though AirTunes is great, the print sharing is probably more practical as I used to share a printer between all my room mates last year. Since I did not always have my laptop on my desk it made it so my roomies could print at any time.

More important than that feature is the fact that no wires are required. If you have a laptop you can get on the internet, play music over AirTunes, and print documents while not connecting any cords into your computer. Bundled with a Bluetooth mouse, you only have to plug your precious iBook or PowerBook into the power to recharge its sweet mojo. No silly speaker cords, usb cords and what not. The Apple AirPort Express Base station equals freedom. Just don't go telling people that because they might think you're a quack. Unless you want it for Christmas, then you can explain how it gives out freedom and that is what America stands for and you want to be just like your forefathers or something.
