After nine years from its release to the general public, Bluetooth technology is serving one billion consumers around the world in this early 2007. With the boom of electronic gizmos, more and more people want to exchange fun and entertainment with family and friends.

Bluetooth is a short-range wireless technology that enables the transmission of data between smartphones and other electronic devices. Such data may include but is not limited to documents, spreadsheets, portable documents (PDF), schedulers and more.

However, the most sought after exchange is focused on multimedia files exchange. Images, audio, and video in different formats is easily transferred from one device to another by means of Bluetooth.

The increasing popularity of this technology in recent year is due to the incorporation of cameras in modern handsets. This way, people cannot only share pre-loaded and downloadable graphics but also photos taken much like those of candy cameras.

Incidentally, people were not particularly enthusiast when Bluetooth technology debuted on the market. In fact, the initial resistance to incorporate this protocol to cell phones predicted an early death that did not occur.

As wireless devices evolved, Bluetooth became more necessary and not just a car hands-free solution, as it was marketed during the first stage after being released.

Bluetooth impressive sales around the world were disclosed during the Consumer Electronics Show, held from January 8 to January 11 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
