It all began with Ericsson Communicator

Friday, November 17, 2006

Developed as its first communicator platform back in 2001, Ericsson's original concept has evolved combining top-notch technology to integrate mobile telephony, messaging, mobile Internet browsing, location based applications, services, personal information management, and multimedia features in a single device.

As an integrated solution in both information and communication services, the platform is designed to support all GSM technologies, including GPRS (General Packet Radio Services) and HSCSD (High Speed Circuit Switched Data). Since its introduction at the CeBIT 2000 Show in Hannover, Germany, the Communicator has served as the model for Triple band GSM technologies, such as GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900, being one of the first devices integrating a built-in Bluetooth-chip for wireless connectivity with other devices.

In 2003, the first Sony Ericsson launched as result of this technology was the smartphone P900, a cell phone with Bluetooth wireless technology, GPRS, High Speed Data, USB support, fared port, RS232 cable support, Memory Stick Duo, and synchronization with both Apple and PC.

Today, EDGE technology makes possible a series of a built-in, mobile Web browsing with photo blogging, the ability for downloading multimedia content, FM Radio and video streaming through the innovative Access NetFront browser that also subscribes you to automatic RSS Feeds.

Sony Ericsson offers some of the finest 2006 technology resulting from its original communicator development, accessible through several smartphones models such as the Z710i, W710i, Z525a, K790a, K510a, W300i, W810i, Z520a, and more to come.
