New iPod Video

Do you enjoy your iPod or are interested in getting one? Well Apple released a new Video iPod today. It is available in 30GB and 60GB varieties. Now you can get an iPod which is practically a TiVo. I know all you gadget fans will be completely thrilled by the latest product from Apple.

There are currently over 2000 music videos in the iTunes library that you can play on Video iPods. You can also purchase ad-free versions of TV shows from the iTunes store. This would be a great thing if you have to ride the subway or public transportation to work every day.

One of the downsides I am seeing with the Video iPod is that to play video, you seriously sacrifice battery life to play movies. The 30 GB iPod is only rated for 2 hours of video playback. The 40 GB Video iPod is rated for 3 hours of video playback. This is significantly less than the 14 hours of advertised music only playback.

The new Video iPod still has the same games, calendars, and photo viewing abilities as its predecessors. While I have not had a chance to try one out for myself I will soon be heading over to the Apple store to pick one up, or get on an obscenely long backorder.
